Powering Liferay Portal with pluggable Enterprise Search - Solr

Blogs , Wiki , User Information , Documents etc. In such case searching becomes one of the key aspect, by default liferay is bundled with lucene search indexer. From version 5.1.x liferay has made search engine pluggable and currently provides plugin integration with popular enterprise search engine Solr. In this blog I will share details about Solr , benefits of using solr in Liferay and solr-web (plugin to do integration between solr and liferay).

One of the nice features of Alfresco is its' flexible workflow engine. If designed properly, Alfresco can handle very complex business processes. Let us assume that one of the Alfresco implementation is designed to initiate a 3 stage serial workflow.

Alfresco is a highly scalable content management system where you can store millions of documents and perform many workflow tasks. Alfresco provides a basic dashboard to list and track the tasks. You can also configure Alfresco to provide full audit trail information.
However, Alfresco does not provide a strong "Reporting" framework out of the box. We integrated Crystal report with Alfresco CMS for one of our customers and here is the information -

Liferay Social Office is a social collaboration solution for the enterprise. From the start, the goal of Social Office was to allow people to collaborate effectively and efficiently. Beginning with the installation, and continuing on into the product itself, Social Office is very user friendly. Current version is 1.5b. The version 2.0 will be ready at the end of Q4, 2009.
