We would like to invite you to join us at the winter meeting of The IT RightSourcing Forum, which will be held at the top of The Gherkin, 30 St Mary Axe, London on Monday, 24th November 2008 starting at 17.45.

The theme for the evening is DEPLOYING OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE IN THE ENTERPRISE. Open Source is delivering a massive reduction in licence fees while allowing a client to control cost through choice and support of standards without the traditional tie-in of proprietary software. The question is no longer "if" enterprises should be using Open Source but "how?" The UK has been viewed as cautious over Open Source adoption but in the last year has become the second strongest growth market after the US. UK companies and government agencies are seeking greater value for money when it comes to renewing their software licences or embarking on new projects and Open Source is providing an impetus to this. We will explore how this is being achieved with two of the leading figures in the Open Source revolution.

Dr Ian Howells is Chief Marketing Officer of Alfresco and has 20 years of enterprise software marketing experience in the fields of content management, service oriented architectures and relational database systems. Alfresco is the leading Open Source alternative for enterprise content management. Ian is recognised as an authority on Open Source marketing and publishes "The Open Source Barometer", writes the "Open Source Hearts and Minds" blog for Computerworld UK and is a regular speaker at events in both US and Europe.

Ian Pratt is one of the best known and most-respected technology leaders in the field of virtualisation. He is a Fellow of King's College, Cambridge and was a senior faculty member of the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory, where he ran the Systems Research Group and led development of the Xen Open Source hypervisor project. He was a co-founder of XenSource, which was acquired by Citrix in mid-2007. He is now vice president of Advanced Products for Citrix and remains the chairman of Xen.org.

After the presentations, there will be an open discussion followed by drinks and refreshments. It is anticipated that the evening will conclude by 20.30.

The IT RightSourcing Forum is a thought leadership programme for organisations considering different sourcing options or managed services for IT. It is a collaborative network focussed on driving best practice across these areas and is designed for IT leaders and those responsible for outsourcing IT services. This event is sponsored jointly by GAVS Technologies and our sister company, CIGNEX, a specialist in implementing Open Source ECM.

The Gherkin is one of London's most recognisable landmarks and the private dining facilities on the top floors have some of the most stunning views of the capital.

We do hope you will be able to join us on 24th November and we look forward to hearing from you.
