The information here is technical and comprehensive and intended for a reasonably technical audience

Open Source Content Management Systems (file size = 0.6 MB)

In recent times, open-source software has become an increasingly mainstream part of the market. Open Source CMS have now matured to the point where they should be considered alongside commercial alternatives. Businesses seeking to implement a CMS should consider open source CMS in fair impartiality, as these systems are now an increasingly viable and stable alternative.

This paper explains how an open source CMS can deliver a low total cost of ownership.

Open Source: An Economic Movement (file size = 0.4 MB)

Open Source is about business practice, not ideology. Open Source is neither liberal nor conservative. It is neither externally owned or governmentally supervised. And it is far more about free markets than free stuff. It is the philosophical essence of capitalism in action... This white paper will examine the long-term problems of the traditional software industry and its customers, the paradigm shift in the creation, distribution and consumption of software, and the driving forces behind the changes that are enveloping the marketplace.

We will discuss how, why and where Open Source is having such a dramatic impact, and how enterprises all over the world are moving to the Open Source model as the foundation for their 21st-century business models.

Web Services Stack on Zope Platform (file size = 0.3 MB)

Distributed computing has always been a challenge in terms of bringing disparate systems together to enhance the user experience. Web Services has gained popularity as a means for achieving interoperability between dissimilar systems. Zope is an open-source Web application server that features plug-ins for content management, portals, collaboration, Intranet, eCommerce, and custom applications. Building enterprise-class applications using Zope brings in the need for interoperability with other technologies but the Zope infrastructure does not support Web Services.

This paper describes the product developed in Python language, which provides support for Web Services technologies such as Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Web Services Description Language (WSDL) on the Zope infrastructure platform.
